The dervish armor looks so nice! I have to admit that I like not much of the armors in nightfall. Dervish Vabbian is "ok"...

Actually, no one mentioned the Exotic Armors in factions. I think there was 1.5k exotic and 15k exotic.

Nonetheless, Nightfall introduced hero armors... 2 sets per hero.

A lot of those armors look amazing in detail.

But it looks though as if the designs got lost in translation to the game. When compared to the art, it looks severely dumbed down. Like they were counting polys like pocket change or something.

They are not just going to throw these away. They money already tide up in man hours creating them.

More than likely we'll see them later. Those I do like these armor sets a lot.

Nice find, and reminds me how I was continually impressed with the new monsters I saw for the first time going through the game. But my impressions were fleeting at every encounter because I was too busy trying to destroy them! The artwork and the resulting candy we get in the game though is really sweet stuff though, and one of the reasons why GW has me hooked.

Look at that Scythe skin, it's so nice and it didn't made it into the game...

The Dervish concept just looks like frilly Elonian Armor. Nothing too special about that, I think.

The one set that catches my eye is the last one, which I can assume with great positivity is a warrior set - obviously. It looks awesome, and now that I see it I have to say that it's a pity Anet decided against including it. But you can't have everything, I suppose.

I've played many games and have looked at many art concepts over the years and while some look awesome, they make absolutely no sense in the context of environment or function - designing armor in "real life" is an accomplishment in itself. Everything has to work together.

But, I know a game is not real life. In any case, I would have preferred the final warrior set to much of what is already in the game. Anet could've really spiced up some things for a lot of the classes - namely the warrior Fissure armor, which causes you to gain about 40 pounds in the midriff and assume the appearance of a pinecone standing on it's head :P

When I think of it, the per-game armor skin numbers are fairly low, considering that most of the games are quite large/lengthy. I've had experiences with much shorter games, or single games that had exponentially more unique armors to them. I applaud Anet for some of their designs, but to be completely - possibly brutally - honest they seem to have fallen short in their production when they could've churned out so many more looks. I've found myself relying on dye combinations to make myself look unique because every 5th person of the same class I am looks like a replica of my character at any given time.

I do have a certain grasp on the work that goes into designing and producing armors for a game, as I have modded numerous sets of my own design into games I have enjoyed in the past - one that comes to mind is "Morrowind," for which I created, or helped to create nearly as many sets of armor as appear in Tyria and possibly Factions (though certainly not in all three titles).

But this is where it falls to the players to excercise their creative potentials. While I have not done so often, I am inclined on a fairly regular basis to mix and match armor pieces, based on the shapes, lines, dyeability, etc. of whatever sets I happen to have amassed by playing through each campaign. You'd be surprised at how well certain pieces pulled from different sets seem to click well with others.

The Ancient Warrior armor looks pretty cool with the arms fully armored...But the Istani armor looks nice. It would've been tight to see it Ascended like that...Nice find!
